Have we lost our connection with the nature, with our mother earth? Have we take the mother earth for granted for so long and she is already hurt and broken? I had real privilege earlier this year, travel down to deep Amazon rainforest, spent some time with the indigenous tribe. I was so moved and touched by the beauty of the forest, and the way how indigenous tribe lives sustainably inside the Amazon for thousands of years, the way they connect and respect our mother planet. Indigenous people are 4% in the world population, but their territory protect 80% of world the biodiversity, they hold this traditional knowledge of the land, the nature and ourself, which we have lost in the modern society.

What's the wisdom we could learn from them?

During my trip, I had a opportunity interviewed both Domingo the Achuar tribe leader and Atossa founder of the Amazon Watch. Domingo shared with me about their tribe and how they live and connect with the land; also how large scale of deforestation effect indigenous people livelihood in the forest, with Atossa addressed how significant role of Amazon play in our entire planet climate system, and devastating consequence of the deforestation to the climate and ecosystem. Finally both of them offered the action we could take and educate the youth to shift consciousness. I felt the urgency of more people to understand and learn what's happening in this precious part of world, the current rate deforestations (we lost 7 football field per minute) could lead unseen devastating effect for us and future generations, we must do something now otherwise will be too late...

They both working on a global initiative - Amazon Scared Headwarters Initiative, an alliance of 30 indigenous nations in Ecuador and Peru working to permanently protect 86 million acres of rainforest the most biologically diverse ecosystems on Earth. The initiative seeks to forge a new post-carbon model for region, off-limits to industrial-scale resource extraction, and governed in accordance with traditional indigenous principles of cooperation and harmony that foster a mutually enhancing human-Earth relationship.
